Ayurveda is the age old science which translates to “knowledge of life”. It was founded 5000 years ago in the northern region of the Indian subcontinent and is very relevant even today. There are two basic aims of Ayurveda, 1) to protect the health of a healthy person, and 2) to cure a sickness of a diseased person. The official definition of HEALTH adopted by Worldwide Health Organization(WHO) was adopted from the Ayurveda definition of HEALTH, which is; a state of complete physical, mental, social, spiritual well being and merely absence of disease. This is extremely important in the eyes of Ayurveda for one’s health, is one’s wealth.
The science states that the 5 basic elements founds in nature; Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Space are also found in our bodies; hence Ayurveda is very closely connected to nature.
