I had been dying to try FabCafe ever since they started following my food page on Instagram; Kitchen Avz :P I really like the idea of cafes in stores because I find it very welcoming cause you can do a little bit of both, shop and eat!
The Fab Cafe in Lajpat nagar is a very cute corner on the 1st floor overlooking the main outer ring road but still quite and cosy in its own way. The first thing that struck me was the wall art and decor which is very welcoming. The staff is sweet, the service is fast and the ambience amazing!
I ordered the chicken momos for starters, made with jackfruit flour that came with a garlic and chive chutney (which was fab) and chili chutney. The momos reminded me of what any Indian would crave on a rainy afternoon or a cold winter evening. It was like eating the best and most hygienic roadside momos (and that's definitely a compliment!
My sister ordered the idli with tomato and naryal chutney with sambhar from the all day breakfast menu. The tiny idlis were very cute but the dish was average. I rather enjoyed the ghee and gunpowder :P
My cousin ordered the Kathal Quinoa Biryani which was really good! It came with salad and raita and the chewy jackfruit in the biryani was just so flavour full. I highly recommend this for a vegetarian.
I spent 15 minutes taking in the menu and then finally ordered the jackfruit flour and egg parantha with spicy pumpkin daal which was just to die for. I'm quite a hardcore non vegetarian so this is not something I would usually order but it was a very satisfying dish. The pumpkin was sweet, yet spicy with a good amount of coriander and mustard seeds and I absolutely loved it.
The biryani and pumpkin came with 3 chutneys; beetroot pickle, pumpkin chutney and chili pickle.
I was very satisfied and I think I ate a little too much but I'll be back to try other dishes and I must say that Fab Cafe is tots FAB!
