Leo's pizzeria undeniably one of the best wood fired oven pizzas I've eaten in Delhi. A great pizza is all about the base dough, the quality of mozzarella, the flavour of the tomato sauce and of course the toppings. Cooking a pizza in a wood fired oven is an art that comes with practice, which is what Anmol Kumar the owner had mastered.
You walk into this cosy, warm cafe with upstairs and downstairs bench seating with a big wood fired oven at the back where the chef's are at work, quite a sight really. A very direct and sweet menu, no alcohol but lots of board games which are anyway better than poison.
Their Prosciutto de Parma e Rucola (tomato sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella, parma ham, fresh rucola, grana padano) for Rs. 755 is simply the best non vegetarian pizza on the menu! The processed meat is fresh, the leaves add a nice freshness and crunch and the crust is just how it's supposed to be. My sister ordered this one and you can see how she's devouring it in the picture and stares she gave me for taking slices from her..
The Pancetta, (Rs.675) with caramalised bacon and onion was what I ordered, it was good but a little too meaty for me.
The classic pepperoni (Rs.675) with Spanish chorizo, a classic which is great if you like to stick to your basics.
One pizza has 8 slices and is good for one person but then again depends on how hungry you are and your appetite.
Since the oven is right there I actually stood and watched the owner making pizzas with such swiftness like he was a machine, who had this unspeakable love affair with food, which you can surely taste in their pizzas.
