Like most new restaurants that open up in Delhi, I was waiting to try eat at the Sly Granny, not just because one of my aunts, Jayanti Duggal is responsible for the menu and my other aunt did the interiors, but because I love trying new food experiences.
There menu gives you a sense of comfort, a variety of dishes from European and American cuisine which also offers gluten free dishes. Their serving size is decent and perfect for one person or if you have a small appetite is good for sharing too.
I went with my parents and between the 3 of us we ordered 3 main dishes. I opted for the lamb, which was the dish of the evening. The balsamic and pomegranate glaze was quite different and it just tied the dish together. I loved how corn polenta was used to substitute the creaminess that you would generally be provided by mash potato, which accompanies a meat dish.
I tried Betki (fish) for the first time and I thought it was quite nice. The fish is a refreshing dish with clean flavours of lemon and garlic and makes for a light dinner.
My father ordered the steak, I enjoyed one bite but my father and I both felt it wasn't the best steak we had eaten, but then again I'm going off red meat so if you enjoy your steak, don't hold back.
My personal favourite was the side dish of grilled broccoli and spinach sautéed in garlic with crunchy garlic on top cause you can never have too many greens in your diet :))
The bill was very sweet and small for 3 dishes and 3 beers. Working in a restaurant myself and having interacted with servers and managers, I can say that the service was great! The interiors are beautiful, it has a warm ambience and a good place for dates or dinners with friends and family. The bathroom is small but beautiful, they have indoor seating and table booking is recommended as it gets quite busy for dinner. Great experience overall and I would definitely go back to try other dishes!
